Santa Claus Lane Pipeline Repair
Santa Claus Lane Pipeline Repair
The Carpinteria Sanitary District required a new underground sanitary pipeline to be installed under US 101 Highway near Santa Claus Lane. The existing pipeline was severely damaged which prompted immediate response from CCC.
Installation of the 220’ long 20” casing connecting to two new manholes presented significant challenges. The boring pits required a design shoring system for the deep excavation next to high traffic roadways. During excavation, the shallow groundwater had to be pumped and legally discharged from the area to provide a dry working area. Since the pipeline required continuous operation, Cushman installed a temporary bypass system that consisted of submersible pumps, float switches, a septic receiving tank, and a remote radio control alarms.
