Alisal Road Bridge Seismic Retrofit

 

Located in Solvang, CA, the Alisal Road Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project involved bridge abutment work, CIDH pile placement, reinforced concrete improvements to the abutment wingwalls, and hinge restrainer replacement.

 

Over 60 linear feet of concrete coring was performed ranging from 4” to 12” diameter cores.  Roughly 160 linear feet of 24” cast-in drilled hole piling were installed along with 900 linear feet of drill and bond dowels.

 

In order to provide access to the underside of bridge, Cushman designed and constructed a scaffolding system.  In addition, Cushman designed a shoring system for an eleven foot deep excavation to provide a safe area to work at the shear keys.
